To Whomever It May Concern:
I am very pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Bill Picard
who has applied for a position in your program. Mr. Picard was a student in
two undergraduate courses in special education that I teach. He also has
served as a guest speaker in a number of my courses.
As a student, Mr. Picard has demonstrated a variety of strengths including, a
strong work ethic and a commitment to the field of disability studies. His
assignments were of high quality and displayed the ability to understand
complex theories and concepts and apply them in practical situations. His work
was completed in a timely fashion and typically went beyond my expectations.
Mr. Picard also has skills in the area of web page design.
As a guest presenter, Mr. Picard was humorous and thought provoking. He has
the ability to challenge students in a variety of ways, but also support their
willingness to express themselves in an honest and open manner. Mr. Picard's
presentations challenge student's preconceptions about disability and
individual difference. He makes students examine their own preconceived
notions and bias. Mr. Picard is also adept at linking the content of his
presentations and student learning to the Maine Learning Results which adds to
the value of his work in public school settings. Evaluations from university
students have consistently praised the quality and value of Mr. Picard's
presentations.
On a personal level, I have found Mr. Picard to be a very enjoyable individual
and a pleasure to have in my courses and to know as a friend. He has a relaxed
personality and very good interpersonal skills.
I believe Mr. Picard will be an asset to your school system and I submit this
recommendation without reservation.
Sincerely,
James Artesani, Ed.D. Associate Professor
