Colleges that Enable This book was how we picked Edinboro University in Pennsylvania.  By reading about the 40 Campuses in this book we felt that Edinboro was best one with full services for the disabled.

K&W Guide to Colleges for the Learning Disabled "1998 (4th Ed) Marybeth Kravets, Imy F. Wax. When Imy Wax began researching colleges that could accommodate her learning disabled daughter, she was frustrated by the complete lack of available information. She teamed up with Marybeth Kravtes, the college consultant at her daughter's high school, and together they set about creating The K&W Guide to Colleges for the Learning Disabled, now in its fourth edition. The indispensable resource profiles programs and services for the learning disabled at 310 colleges and includes information on: learning disabled programs' admissions requirements and graduation policies; specific services at each school - tutors, note takers, oral exams, extended test time, and more; learning resource centers; availability of course waivers; and names, addresses, and phone numbers of program administrators at each school. In adition to the 310 schools profiled, a Quick Contact Reference List provides essential program information for another 1,000 schools." - from the book's back cover Paperback / Published 1997

The Opportunities to Completion grant that I worked on

found that students with disabilities do not think of themselves going to college because they do not realize that there are others like us getting an education. So we decided to make a video with 6 adults, who successfully fulfilled a lifelong dream of a college education. If you know someone that needs to see this video, people can sign it out at the center’s resource room or they can order it.  The contact information for the Breaking ground video click here.

I worked on these databases at the Center for Community Inclusion

On line Disability Information System: ODIS This database is for youth that have disabilities who want Information on transitioning to higher education. When I left the center the database had over 525 abstracts. Fifteen categories including and over 100 links Universities' & Colleges' Services

Service Tapestry Database is a collection of Maine resources that has information to assist youth with special health care needs or disabilities in their transition planning, while the ODIS web site is more college oriented.
