TO: Whom It May Concern

This letter serves as a recommendation for William Picard. Bill has been a valuable addition to my class presentations in a course entitled "Adapting Instruction for Students with Special Needs." Bill has spent quite a few years visiting my course sections and sharing his personal experiences in schools, his technological skill with his voice synthesizer, and making my students feel more receptive to interacting with persons with disabilities.

For me, working with Bill has brought me many new insights. I was somewhat concerned about my own ability to communicate with Bill as I spent time thinking about how to ask spontaneous questions that I had and wondering if I was making it hard for Bill to respond. I realized that my attitude about communicating with Bill was in need of an adjustment! My confidence increased due to Bill's patience and warmth in dealing with me. I would be mistaken if I said that Bill was there to teach only my students. Bill was there to teach me, too!

Bill Picard's messages are more than motivational or educational. To me, Bill represents a chance to look at life differently and value strengths in people that may not be considered at a glance. Bill is strong. Bill has a message. Bill deserves more opportunities to share his knowledge with school contacts and businesses. His talents will make all of you think in a new way... take the challenge!

Please do not hesitate to call if you have questions. My home phone is 207-941-1072.

Sincerely,

Diane Jackson, Ed.D.
