I have worked with Bill Picard for several years. My role has been a counselor at an elementary school and a Professor at the University of Maine. It is within these roles that I find myself utilizing Bill's personal and professional stories.
I find the work that Bill does in teaching others about various life issues specifically related to physically challenged individuals is needed and appreciated by students as well as educators. I have seen his presentation to elementary students as well as to college students and there has always been high praise for his ability to bring a needed awareness in the spotlight. His ability to demonstrate his adaptive equipment using humor and normalcy in guiding students is strongly noted in his formal evaluations, which are completed by all students.
Generally, young children are very curious and adult students tend to be uncomfortable when presented with information outside their "normal" range and Bill is able to reach the wide spectrum of developmental issues within each developmental stage.
